Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Description

Shining in the spotlight of the Las Vegas Strip, Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino boasts gourmet restaurants, world-class shopping and dazzling entertainment that has hotel-casino patrons cheering for an encore.

Like the plot of a motion picture, this classic Las Vegas casino — where Elvis and Priscilla Presley were married — once rose from the dead: It was imploded in 1998 and then rebuilt from the ground up. As for its most recent dazzling special effect, the Aladdin lifted the curtain to Hollywood in Sin City when it was reborn as Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Since Planet Hollywood’s arrival, the property has made a metamorphosis from its lackluster Arabian-theme into a high-tech, retro-chic attraction unlike any other Strip property.

Renovations were carried out in stages, allowing the resort to remain open throughout. Planet Hollywood Las Vegas includes an expanded casino, new restaurants, new nightclub and retail space. A redesign of the facade and pedestrian plaza was intended to correct defects that made accessing the property from the sidewalks on The Strip difficult.

The retail space formerly known as “The Desert Passage” was converted into the Hollywood-themed “Miracle Mile Shops.”

After the casino was renovated, it was reopened as: “Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino” on April 17, 2007. The official grand opening of was the weekend of November 16, 2007. The Planet Hollywood restaurant, however, remains at The Forum Shops at Caesars.

This hotel is located in the middle of the strip and is a perfect location. There is a lot to do nearby. It also has an awesome shopping mall where you can buy designer clothes where the fashion is the latest and lots of other variety stores alone with restaurants and places to buy a cocktail or any other drink that takes your fancy.
It also has a nice bar next to it.

“Home of hen and stag parties”

Not a very good start to our stay as the reception is underground in the basement and car park. Actual rooms are fine with plenty of room and clean. Very daunting when we tried to find our way around. Obviously, as in every other hotel in Vegas, everything is centred around the casino, but to find a coffee shop or eating area was like a maze and very very noisy. This was certainly the hen and stag for the strip and was possibly ideal for the under 30′ s but for the middle to older holiday maker a bit of a nightmare. We did visit 6 other hotels on the strip to compare and all of these we could walk around very easily and felt a lot safer in. It was connected to a great shopping mall which was one positive. Very centrally situated but will avoid next time.

“The location is the best thing about this hotel”

Its location on the strip and its lower cost compared to other hotels around are the best aspects about this hotel. This was our first time in Vegas so these factors were appreciated but it doesnt have the Wow factor of other hotels.

We self-parked for free but then had to haul our heavy bags through the Miracle mile of shops which was painful. I just read another reviewer suggest dropping your bags and a person off at the valet entrance which would be much closer so I would recommend that.

The staff at check-in were not that helpful. We wanted to book an extra night since because the grand canyon was closed due to US federal shutdown we could no longer stay there. The staff member at check-in told us he could not book this for us and that we had to dial an extension from our rooms phone. When we dialled this extension they told us we should have booked it at the front desk! We eventually got it done over the phone.

The room was fine, except it didnt have a fridge. We had a room with a view to the bellagio fountains which was great.

The Miracle mile shops are great. They have a great range of shops including a couple of ABC stores where you can buy things like milk and yoghurt for breakfast (since there was no fridge in the room to store these). The range of eateries is great too, we really enjoyed Gordon Ramsey BurGR.

I would probably stay here again due to location and price but I would also recommend staying a night or two at a fancier hotel as well. We stayed a night at the Bellagio, after our 3 nights at PH, and it was amazing.

“Not what I expected”

I’m glad we decided to go during the week when the rates were lower because the experience we had was not worth the rates we paid, let alone what we would have paid would it have been on the weekend. I have pictures of the shoddy furnishings in our room. Many of the furnishings were dinged up and scratched with chunks missing out of the wood. There was toothpaste crusted on the handles of the sink in the bathroom. When sitting at the bottom of the bed to put on shoes, the entire mattress and frame tipped up in the air, nearly spilling me on the floor! The ice maker on our floor did not work. There was not even a pen or paper in our room. One of our lamps didn’t work. There was little to no information given to us about the amenities of the hotel, we never did find the pool! The person who checked us in told us she was upgrading us to a strip view since it was our anniversary. I guess you could call it a strip view, once we repaired the shades so they opened and looked past the unsightly rooftop and craned our necks against the dirty window pane, we could see some lights on the strip. We ate at the buffet. The food was mediocre, at best, with many of the food stations in disarray and food not replenished. We had to hunt down someone to get water glasses refilled. We asked several questions to the person at registration, she did not know the answers and did not offer to find out. Although our room was non-smoking, we could still smell smoke in the room. We had some friends who were vacationing at Disney World, at the same time we were at your resort. I texted them that Planet Hollywood was no Disney World, but I bet we could find some “Hidden Mickeys” in the carpet stains in our elevator lobby! Yes, the carpet is that bad, it is threadbare in spots in the hall and buckled, needing to be re-stretched. All in all, it was an extremely disappointing stay. I would not recommend your resort to anyone.

I love hanging out at the PH when I’m in Vegas.  It’s hip and not stuffy.  It’s almost like playing cards while you’re at the strip club.  In the evening hours they have beautiful ladies dancing above the casino tables.  They also have 3 card poker that is unique in the sense I don’t often see it in other casinos.  You can basically use the dealers hand to make a 5 card poker hand.  I’ve gotten 4 of a kind a few times and boats.  The dealers are really nice and beautiful.

Lost my phone in the building but found it the next day in lost and found.  A couple of hiccups retrieving it but the staff were only doing their job.  Felt fortunate to retrieve it.
